I have been dining here regularly for over 20 years . The Life Boat serves the freshest fish and chips in Sydney . The seafood is caught from the Hawkesbury river by fishermen the same day or night before .It is a quaint outdoor setting right on the river. The Sydney Rock oysters are grown nearby. During weekends at lunch ( 11.30 to 3) they have a guitarist ( Andrew Brown) who sings beautiful lilting songs about Brooklyn and the river lifestyle . The food is moderately priced for huge servings . The head chef / owner is a great guy and the staff are very pleasant and quick . The Life Boat restaurant is one of Sydney's unique dining experiences . Don't be afraid to catch the train to Hawkesbury station , the views are magnificent and the restaurant is only a lazy 3 minute walk from the station . They also serve crabs, prawns , scallops, mussells, callamari , jew fish, mullet, flake, baramundi and flat head. A bottle shop is nearby for BYO. They also do take away fish & chips @ a discount price of $17 .
